The Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce Cybersecurity Council met at Jefferson Bank on Wednesday, January 17th to kick off 2024.  New Council Chair Roman Medina, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer at Jefferson Bank hosted almost 70 members of the Council both in-person and online.  Roman took the time to introduce himself and welcome 2024 Greater San Antonio Chamber Executive Board Chair Mario Barrera. After Mario shared his thoughts for the year and his priorities of workforce development and collaboration with our military missions, Roman led a discussion concerning the Council’s work in 2024 to support Mario’s vision.

Mario then introduced Sunny Khemalaap, Assistant Chief Information Security Officer for the City of San Antonio.  Sunny provided an update on the Alamo Regional Security Operations Center (ARSOC), a coordination and sharing center for key members of our region’s cybersecurity efforts.  Partners include Via, SAWS, CPS, and other smaller municipalities from around South Texas. The ARSOC is a nation-leading facility, one that New York City modeled its security operations center after.

The year ahead will be a busy one with several major goals set for both the Council and the ARSOC.  The next Cybersecurity Council meeting will take place on February 14th at 3:00 hosted by Port San Antonio.
